Rob Taylor is a contestant this season on The Voice. He is a great singer. Last night he gave HIS best performance on the show ever and it is because he embraced his whole voice. What is so incredible about Rob is that he sings in a great "baritone" range and then he has an amazing electric falsetto.

Some people may be "put off" by this falsetto because it is so different than the gentle ones you usually hear on the radio. That is because Rob Taylor is a true Countertenor. Probably not all lot of people know what this voice type is because it generally refers to a man who sings classical- operatic music. These voices are rare and very special.

To spot a Countertenor "thriving in a main stream voice" look for a lower voiced man who knocks out the falsetto parts with power. Prince comes to mind for me.

Here is an example of an excellent Countertenor in the classical world:

Philippe Jaroussky - Ombra mai fu - Händel - Serse

Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Vasily Petrenko

This is Rob's performance last night! Singing the majority of the piece in a baritone but then owning and utilizing his fantastic countertenor!

The Voice 2015 Rob Taylor - Live Playoffs: "Earned It"

Rob Taylor makes a determined bid for the Top 12 with his version of The Weeknd's "Earned It."

Loved it!
